Faith City Kennel Club Dog Show

Join us for the Faith City Kennel Club’s 55th Annual All-Breed Dog Conformation Show on Saturday and Sunday at the J.S. Bridwell Agricultural Center.

Dog aficionados can expect to see more than 130 breeds at the event, including a few new ones.

Yorkshire terriers, Italian greyhounds, Irish wolfhounds, Great Danes, Boston terriers, Shar-Peis, Chihuahuas, bull mastiffs, Shih Tzus, pugs and Pomeranians, to name a few, will all be in the show ring.

Dogs will compete first for Best of Breed. Then the Best of Breed winners compete for Best in Group, of which there are seven — the herding group, working group, hounds, terriers, toys, the nonsporting entries and the sporting group.

The winner of each group then goes for the big kahuna prize — Best in Show.

Unlike in other types of competitions, in which entrants are competing against each other, at dog conformation shows, entrants are judged against a standard for each breed. Whichever canine comes closest to that standard will win.

Dog lovers should also stop by Friday to check out the Texoma Bulldog Club of Wichita Falls’ specialty, which will run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the J.S. Bridwell Agricultural Center.  About 15 vendors will be at the show.

*For safety reasons, baby strollers are not allowed.  Also, no pets allowed.
